Sandnes Garn Alpakka Følgetråd (Second thread) is an alternative for Tynn Silk Mohair for those who are sensitive to mohair.

Sandnes Garn have chosen not to set needle sizes or knitting tension, as they believe it works best knitted together as a second strand of yarn.

Alpaca is about three times warmer than ordinary wool and thus insulates well. The fiber is hollow and breathable, so it feels warm in cold temperatures and cool in warm ones. The wool added to this blend provides resilience and volume. Both alpaca and wool have good heat-regulating properties.

For machine washing, we recommend that all wool garments be washed separately on a wool program, to ensure the gentlest treatment. Centrifuge well and dry the garment flat, preferably on top of a towel. Never use a laundry bag when washing hand-knitted wool garments. This creates friction that can cause the garment to felt
