Sandnes Garn Sunday yarn is our thinnest variant of 100% merino wool and is the perfect base yarn: a thin, non-superwash treated yarn that can be knitted with single and double strands. It can also be knitted together with Tynn Silk Mohair.
Merino wool is not only insulating, but also wicks moisture away from the body and retains heat even when moist, thanks to the structure of the fibers. Wool can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in water before it starts to feel wet.
Our supplier has guaranteed that the wool we buy does not come from sheep that have been subjected to mulesing. For machine washing, we recommend that all wool garments be washed separately on a wool program, to ensure the gentlest treatment. Due to the unique absorbency of the merino wool, it is important to centrifuge hand-knitted garments well before drying them on a flat surface, preferably on top of a towel. Never use a laundry bag when washing hand-knitted wool garments. This creates friction that can cause the garment to felt.
I bought this to knit some socks for a Moomin loving friend. The wool is lovely and a pleasure to knit with. Ordering and delivery were quick and easy and I very much appreciated my Christmas stocking stitch marker.
Really happy with my lovely book. Excellent customer service, speedy well packaged delivery. I would happily recommend Treasure Modern Knitting, they have a great range of products too.
I’m really enjoying these patterns from PetiteKnit. They are printed on good quality paper, using A5 as the leaflet size. The perfect size to pop into a project bag!
The most accurate description of this yarn is Quality Basic. It has a lovely soft handle with some firmness, which makes it a great all rounder. The blend of wool and nylon means you can also use it for cosy DK socks too!
